Dowagiac Drug_ Weapons Arrest

A Dowagiac man is behind bars this morning on drug and weapons charges. Public Safety Director Tom Atkinson says officers arrested Ashley Latron Nickens was arrested on three outstanding child support warrants on Tuesday. While officers were at his home in the 300 block of South Front Street, they noticed roughly 40 bags of marijuana, a loaded handgun and other evidence of suspected drug dealing. In addition to the warrants, Nickens was arraigned on charges of domestic violence, marijauna possession and dealing and possession of a firearm by a felon. He's being held on $30 thousand bond.
