Representative Pscholka_ Jim Hahn To Debate Thursday

The candidates for the 79th District state House seat will spar Thursday night. State Representative Al Pscholka and Democratic challenger Jim Hahn will meet at 7 p.m. along with US Taxpaper candidate Carl Oheling. The debate will be held at the office of Area Agency on Aging on Lakeview Avenue in St. Joseph. We will carry the debate live on WSJM FM 94.9. The 79th District has been solid Republican territory since it was created. Pscholka is seeking a second term in Lansing and survived a recall election last year over unrest in the district over the now-suspended Public Act 4, which he authored. That law gave emergency managers in Michigan broader powers and itself is before voters in November. The former emergency financial manager law, Public Act 72 of 1990, is back in effect, and Republicans in the Legislature say if PA 4 is repealed, they will work quickly on a replacement.
