The Cass County Prosecutor's office and Michigan Attorney General's office are charging 28-year-old Keith Lintz with two counts of felony first-degree murder in the February 2010 deaths of John and Carolyn Tarwacki at their home near Niles. Lintz was arrested Wednesday afternoon leaving his grandmother's house in Niles, and had been out of jail for about a week. Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz said they identified Lintz as the suspect within a week of the crime.
As for any connection between the suspect and the victims, all investigators would say is Lintz lived in the same general neighborhood as the Tarwackis. Prosecutors declined comment on many detailed questions concerning evidence and motive, saying they can't discuss any of that outside of the courtroom. Lintz is due back in court on October 31 and is being held without bond. He allegedly stabbed John Tarwacki ten times, shot him twice and stabbed the man's wife four times, shot her twice and badly beat her about the face.
