Lake Township is moving forward with trying to sell the old Michigan State Police on Red Arrow Highway. Township Supervisor John Gast says they've had discussions with potential buyers including American Electric Power, but nothing has happened yet.
The township this week approved hiring a Grand Rapids real estate firm to try to unload the 17.6 acre site. It has an appraised value of $810,000, and Gast says they'll entertain any offers of over $500,000. The Grand Rapids company will earn seven-percent of the selling price and has six months to find a buyer. The contract can be extended by another six months if needed.
