It's not hurting as bad this week to fill up the gas tank as it was last week. Triple-A Michigan says prices fell 14-cents a gallon over the last week to an average of $3.76. Spokeswoman Nancy Cain said several factors are involved.
Locally, Triple-A puts the average price in Benton Harbor and St. Joseph at $3.71. A year ago, however, we were paying $3.49 a gallon for regular unleaded. The wholesale price that gas stations pay has fallen over 40-cents a gallon in the past week and is now around $2.55 per gallon.
