State Lawmakers Not Planning Much More Work In 2012



Don't look for a whole lot of legislative action between now and the end of the year, provided Republicans maintain control of the state House in November. Republican state Representative Joe Haveman of Holland says things could change, however.

Haveman says neither Senate Majority Leader Randy Richardville nor Governor Snyder are looking for an active lame duck session of the GOP maintains control. Democrats briefly controlled the state House at the end of Governor Granholm's term, winning control in 2006 for the first time in eight years, holding their majority in 2008, but losing it in 2010 when Governor Snyder was elected.
