Paw Paw Woman Charged With Animal Cruelty

A Paw Paw woman is officially charged with animal cruelty charge and two counts of having unliscensed dogs. Brandi Espinosa turned herself in to police Thursday afternoon and has pled not guilty. The 33-year-old will next be in court on October 26. She was released after her arraignment, and the two dogs that were found in poor health and extremely skinny are being cared for by Van Buren County Animal Control. Espinosa told police earlier in the week that the home where the dogs were living was vacant, but she said she was feeding them daily despite their appearance. Both dogs are pit bull mixes and neither were licensed or vaccinated.
