Former Berrien County Road Commission vice chairman Chuck Collins wants his position back, and wants all action taken by the Road Commission this week voided. Speaking before the Berrien County Board of Commissioners, which removed him from the Road Commission a week ago, Collins said the law was broken concerning the notice of the hearing that resulted in his and two other exits.
Collins is taking his concerns to Michigan Attorney General Bill Shuette. He also took issue with the article that ran last Friday in the "South Bend Tribune," which he says infers his use of the vacation home of former Road Commission managing director Rhonda Hildebrand was unethical. Collins says he and his wife camped on the property, but everything with the trip was above-board. Hildebrand was demoted last month and will either resign or be fired by noon on Friday.
