There will be a few managerial jobs open at the Berrien County Road Commission on Friday following a summer filled with controversy and tension over allegations of a hostile work environment and mismanagement by finance director Rhonda Hildebrand, traffic services manager Kevin Reed and now-retired superintendent David Fritz. Interim managing director Derek Perry tells WSJM the Road Commission has voted to move forward with the dismissals of Hildebrand and Reed.
Hildebrand was demoted from managing director to finance director last month, with Perry being brought in from his post as the assistant city manager in St. Joseph to run the Road Commission through November. More than a dozen non-union employees filed a list of 20 grievances against Hildebrand, Reed and Fritz in June.
