This week, the city commission held a first reading on an ordinance amendment that limits street vendors. City Manager Frank Walsh tells us that, under the old rules, up to 15 vendors could be located on the five pieces of property downtown where such operations are allowed. That'll be now limited to one per parcel, meaning no more than five total street vendors in downtown Saint Joe at any given time. Walsh says that this was done to make things fair for those downtown businesses who operate year round:
The city commission must hold a second reading of the amendment before it takes effect. That could be next month.
