Fairplain Residents To Learn More About Water Changes Next Week

Residents of Saint Joseph Township who live in the Fairplain area can find out more what what's happening to their water system at a meeting set for next Tuesday. Township Manager Tim Fenderbosch tells us that, after the city of Benton Harbor raised water rates on those residents, a decision was made to build a couple of pipelines under the river to pump in water from Saint Joseph, instead. At next week's meeting, the public can learn about the construction schedule and what the new water rates will likely be:

Fenderbosch says that work on the new pipelines should start next month, and everything could be ready in the spring. The meeting will start at seven PM at the township Public Safety Complex on Colfax Avenue.
