Berrien County Seeking Applicants To Serve On Road Commission

If you want to serve on the Berrien County Road Commission, there are three open positions starting in January with terms running for six years. The Berrien County Board of Commissioners is calling for applicants for District 1, District 2 and District 4 in the county after a major shake-up of the Road Commission this week. Chairman Louis Gibson, Vice Chairman Chuck Collins and Commissioner Larry Merritt are all out of office following how they handled a report into 20 grievances filed by more than a dozen non-union employees. They alleged a hostile work environment and chronic mismanagement of the Road Commission by former managing director and now finance director Rhonda Hildebrand and two other managers. Gibson resigned on Thursday, while the County Board voted to remove Collins and Merritt. Applications to be considered for the Road Commission are being accepted through October 5 and can be obtained in person at the Berrien County Administration Office or online at www.berriencounty.org.
