Dowagiac Teen Pleads Not Guilty To Gun Charges

A Dowagiac Union High School student remains behind bars in the Cass County Jail on $100,000 bond after pleading not guilty to multiple felony counts for allegedly having guns and a knife in his vehicle at school this week. Phillip Kocsis turned 17 on Tuesday, the day before his arrest and Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz is charging him as an adult.

Listen:

In court yesterday, Fitz alleged the teen threatened to get the shotgun and rifle out of his vehicle and start shooting people while angry. Kocsis is being tried as an adult and will be back in court on October 2nd. He had 16 rounds of ammunition in his SUV, but was blocked by another student from being able to leave the school and get the guns.
