Berrien County Sheriff Paul Bailey wants a budget increase for the next fiscal year, and drew the support of several people at the Berrien County Board of Commissioners meeting Thursday to that end. Walter Zych is the coordinator of Berrien County Neighborhood Watch and said he's hearing people want more cops on the streets.
Bailey did not address the commission, letting about a half-dozen folks speak on his behalf. He did speak to us after the meeting, saying his department has been cut enough and letting any more officers go will create a problem.
The County Board will be voting on the budget for the next fiscal year in October.
