Berrien Springs will remain a village for the time being. This week, a steering committee set up by the village council to study the issue of pursuing city status reported back with a recommendation that such a move not be made, and the council followed its advice. Village President Milt Richter says that the committee was then dissolved, and that's the end of it...for now:
The committee said that it would cost too much for Berrien Springs to become a city, and Richter says there wasn't enough benefit to such a move at this time.
