A Dowagiac Union High School student is facing a handful of charges after allegedly bringing two guns and a knife to school. The Dowagiac Department of Public Safety says the 17-year-old had a rifle, a shotgun, ammunition for both and a knife in his vehicle in the school parking lot. He is facing two charges of carrying a weapon with unlawful intent, three charges of possessing a weapon in a Weapons Free School Zone and two felony firearms charges. The teen is lodged in the Cass County Jail pending arraignment. His name has not been released, nor has it been announced if he will face charges in juvenile or adult court. Police were called to the school today after getting a tip about the weapons.
