The Saugatuck-Douglas area is up for a national award from the Paint Quality Institute. They are searching for the "Prettiest Painted Places in the USA," and 21 homes and businesses were seleced by the Saugatuck-Douglas Convention & Visitors Bureau to represent those cities in the contest. The purpose of the competition is to show how an attractive paint color scheme can enhance the curb appeal of any building. Eight Michigan communities have been nominated, including Grand Rapids, Frankenmuth, Constantine and Traverse City, while there are more than 200 nominees nationwide. Finalists will be announced late this month, with the 12 winners revealed in October.
