Next Saturday, September 29, will be a big day for breast cancer survivors in southwest Michigan, as Susan G. Komen of Southwest Michigan holds its second annual "Beach Stroll." Organizer Denise Stewart says it will involve a three-mile walk along the Lake Michigan shore, and those who are unable to walk will be able to ride in a trolley from Sunset Coast Trolley. Also this year, the Clay Fire Department from South Bend is sending up its pink fire truck.
The Beach Stroll is the kickoff of several events planned for October, including the "Paint Our Town Pink" initiative, the "Little Black Dress" night out at the Shadowland Ballroom on October 11 and the third annual Southwest Michigan Susan G. Komen golf outing at Lake Michigan Hills Golf Club in Benton Harbor on October 14.
