15 Year Old Dies After High Speed Chase In Niles

Police are investigating after a 15 year old Niles girl stole a car and died in the ensuing high speed chase over the weekend. City police officers on Sunday morning got a report of a truck being stolen from the 18 hundred block of Sycamore Street, and not long after saw it near Miller and Margaret Streets. When officers tried to stop the vehicle, it sped off, leading them over into Cass County. Finally, the 85 mile an hour chase ended when the truck crashed into a tree on Yankee Street, west of M-60, and rolled for about 40 yards. The driver -- Jazmyne Rodriquez -- was dead at the scene. Police say that no one else was injured.
