Despite the very public personnel problems at the Berrien County Road Commission, the commission is still going to be asking voters for more money in November. Commissioner Larry Merritt is also part of "Save Berrien Roads" and tells WSJM that even as rumors have surfaced over the past week that the millage was going to be pulled from the ballot, the option wasn't considered.
The deadline to remove the proposal from the November ballot has already passed, with the Berrien County Clerk's office telling WSJM a decision would have needed to be made by August 28. The millage would add 50-dollars a year to the property taxes for a 100-thousand dollar home if approved. Voters in Cass County shot down a county-wide road millage earlier this year.
