Police are once again asking for the public's help in identifying a woman whose body was found in New Buffalo 20 years ago. Michigan State Police troopers say that the Jane Doe was discovered along Krueger Road east of Red Arrow Highway in New Buffalo Township on August 23rd, 1992. Her body was wrapped in a sheet, towel and garbage bags, and bound with twine. Medical examiners at the time estimated that the woman must have been dead for about a week. It was later determined that she'd been a white female with white hair and brown eyes, between 65 and 75 years old. She was approximately five-foot-two, weighed 103 pounds and wore dentures. Detectives believe the victim may have lived in northern Illinois or Indiana in a care facility due to an illness, but still don't know who she was. Attached here is an image of a facial reconstruction done by a forensic expert. Anyone with any information on this 20 year old mystery is asked to call Michigan State Police at 269-683-4411.
