Experts Remind Student Athletes To Beware Of Concussions



The crowds, the cheering, the excitement...the head injuries. High school sports season is upon us again, and experts are reminding everyone to take athletic concussions seriously. Eric Hannah, with the Origami Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center in Lansing, tells us that traumatic brain injuries during sports remain a big problem...but progress has been made in recent years:

He says the important thing is for parents, coaches, and the players themselves to know the signs of a concussion, which include sluggishness, seeming dazed or stunned, and forgetting events that occurred right before getting hit. If that happens, the affected player should just sit out and be looked at by a medical professional.
