Van Buren Leaders Look At Political Rules For Employees

New rules could be adopted soon regarding the political activities of Van Buren County employees. The board of commissioners this month held a first reading on a policy that would prohibit any county employee from being forced to donate to a political campaign, or to work for a candidate. Also, the policy would clarify that county equipment can only be used for county business, and that employees may not engage in political activity while on the job. The Herald Palladium says that such rules are in place in most counties statewide, and Van Buren is just now catching up, in order to protect its workers.
