A plan to ask voters in Lincoln Township to approve a new millage to fund the fire department is being dropped for now. Trustees had been talking about pursuing an assessment that would have raised about 270 thousand dollars a year for the department. The idea was to give it a regular funding source, rather than paying for fire services out of the township's general fund. However, after some discussion this week, the board of trustees decided to study the issue a little longer and gauge what residents might want. The ballot proposal won't be before voters until at least 2013.
