Berrien County Road Commission Report Being Suppressed

Non-union employees of the Berrien County Road Commission are growing frustrated at the lack of action taken on a list of complaints they sent to the County Board of Commissioners and Road Commission Board earlier this summer. The Road Commission Board commissioned an independent review of the situation, but while that report is finished, management appears to be trying to prevent it from being made public. Sources tell WSJM that Road Commission attorney Michael Kluck refused to release the report after a closed-door meeting with management and the board that lasted roughly two hours. More than a dozen employees took their concerns to the Berrien County Board of Commissioners and the Road Commission Board in early June, alleging managing director Rhonda Hildebrand, superintendent David Fritz and traffic services manager Kevin Reed have created a hostile working environment. Among their complaints are verbal abuse of workers and accusations of falsifying some reports.
