Michigan has the fourth highest obesity rate in the country. The report from the Centers for Disease Control says that 12 states have what are considered to be "high" obesity rates, and in Michigan, 31-point-three percent of the population is obese. the figures are based on a telephone survey, that for the first time included calls to both hard-line phones as well as cell phones. Respondents were asked for their height and weight. Other states with obesity rates in the "high" range are Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas and West Virginia. The lowest rate was Colorado at 20-point-eight percent and Mississippi was highest at 34-point-nine percent.
