BH Schools May Not Make Payroll This Month

Benton Harbor Schools may not be able to make payroll this month. This week, the board of education was told that the district owes its vendors four million dollars, and money will run tight as the month comes to an end. Seems that since it's a three payday month for the employees, things have gotten awkward in August. Officials from the district will be going to Lansing within the next couple of weeks to see if the Michigan Treasury Department will loan Benton Harbor Schools money to make payroll come August 31st.
