Stevensville Woman Killed By Train

A 25 year old Berrien County woman is dead after being hit by a train early on Wednesday. The Lincoln Township Police Department says that, around three-45 in the morning, officers were sent to the scene in Stevensville at some CMX tracks near Defay Road. The engineer put the train into an emergency stop after seeing someone lying on the track. That victim later identified as Jessica Smith, of Stevensville. Police say that the train did not derail, nor was it damaged in the incident. Anyone with information on what happened is asked to call the Lincoln Township Police Department at 429-2444.
