Local Ballot Measures Do Well On Tuesday

Municipal millage renewals did pretty well across the board in Tuesday's primary. All of the individual city and township library, road and police - fire and public safety tax renewals were victorious, with one exception: Columbia Township in Van Buren County said no to their road millage renewal by a vote of 176 - 134. School bond proposals were another matter. The Dowagiac Union School District $19 million bond was soundly defeated four-to-one ( 1665 - 486). A Cassopolis schools millage RENEWAL just squeaked by....592-505. Eau Claire's 3.1 million bond issue was winning (282-216) - with 2 of 5 precincts yet to report.
