Benton Harbor Mayor James Hightower has his mind on the municipal water plant, telling us that he's hoping to find more customers for it in order to lower water rates for citizens. At this week's city commission meeting, Hightower said that he recently spoke with some investors with a water bottling plant for a possible bulk distribution deal that could raise funds and keep the plant more sustainable. Other than that, Hightower's thinking about getting more customers right here in Southwest Michigan:
Hightower says that he'd like to see a robust water authority that could explore ways of lowering bills for residents by getting new customers. He's hoping to make that a goal of the city commission in the coming months.
