A 38-year-old backyard mechanic from Plainwell is dead after a fatal crash while test driving the motorcycle he was working on. The Allegan County Sheriff's Department says Stephen Magierka III was going too fast and was not wearing a helmet when he missed a curve on 106th Avenue in Otsego Township and crashed in a ditch. Police found him unconscious in the tall grass nearby and were unable to revive him. He was pronounced dead at Borgess in Kalamazoo.
