The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have recognized a new program getting started in Southwest Michigan to provide in home medical services to those who otherwise would have to move into a nursing facility. Christine Vanlandingham, with the Area Agency on Aging, says that PACE of Southwest Michigan has been planned for several years. It's a collaboration between the agency, Lakeland Healthcare, and Hospice at Home to provide a wide range of services to older patients:
PACE should be ready to start serving patients in September, and Vanlandingham says it's accepting applications now. PACE services are targeted to "dual eligibles" -- people who are covered by Medicare and who are also eligible for Medicaid. To find out more about the program, call the infoline at 1-800-654-2810 .
