The suspect in a Galien Township home invasion is in police custody in South Bend. A Berrien County Animal Control officer arrived home to find a car in his driveway and then found the suspect inside his house. When that suspect tried to escape, the homeowner shot out one of the tires in the suspect's car, and he ran off. He managed to elude police, police dogs and a helicopter and was finally captured last night at a home in South Bend. He faces home invasion and felony firearms charges in the Galien incident and was also on parole for home invasion in Berrien County. The suspect is awaiting extradition in the Saint Joseph County Jail in South Bend.
