A group that's opposed to a ballot proposal to allow for more casinos in Michigan has filed a lawsuit to stop the issue from ever getting before voters. Protect MI Vote announced on Tuesday that it's asking the Michigan Court of Appeals to stop the constitutional amendment from appearing on the November ballot. The coalition says the language in the amendment was very poorly drafted and includes not one or two, but numerous constitutional violations. Spokesperson John Truscott:
The ballot proposal from Citizens for More Michigan Jobs would authorize new privately owned casinos in eight locations in Michigan and eliminate the constitutional requirement that all gaming expansions be approved by both a statewide and local vote. Truscott says that it's too broadly worded, and therefore not legal. He expects the lawsuit to make it all the way up to the state supreme court.
