MDOT Monitors Political Signs Near Roads



As the election season approaches, roadside signs supporting candidates and stances on issues are popping up everywhere. The Michigan Department of Transportation's Nick Schirripa says there are some rules to follow with those signs:

And, he says that MDOT does keep an eye out for campaign signs that might cause obstructions for motorists. Sometimes, the agency will pull signs that are too close to the road, and hang on to them for ten days so the owner has a chance to pick them up. If you have concerns that a political sign is a danger to drivers, contact MDOT.
