Indiana Motorcyclist Killed In Cass County Crash

An Indiana man is dead and another Hoosier driver could possibly face charges from a crash in Cass County yesterday. Michigan State Police say 61-year-old Tim McCavit of Granger was on a motorcycle that was hit by a car driven by 25-year-old Donavan Avance of Elkhart on US 12 near Edwardsburg. Avance was passing another vehicle when he went into the path of the bike. Police say he tried to swerve out of the way, but was unable to do so. McCavit was pronounced dead at the scene Sunday morning. Investigators at this point don't believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
