BH Police Report New Money Order Scam

The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety is telling residents not to fall for a new money order scam that was recently reported. Captain Daniel Unruh tells WSJM that a local woman received two money orders in the mail -- for 885 dollars each -- with a letter that told he she had been selected for a "secret shopper" program. The sender then told her to cash the money orders:

Unruh says that the woman didn't fall for it, and instead turned over those money orders to police. Of course, they turned out to be fake. Unruh says that if the woman had cashed those money orders -- which looked very real -- she would have ended up being investigated for passing fraudulent documents. If you get something like that in the mail, you should contact police.
