After about a year of production and fundraising, the first episode of Harbor Lights is set to air on the local South Bend PBS station on August 31. Producer Dawn Yarborough says she is planning to have eight shows, but still needs some more funding.
Yarborough says the first episode will highlight the "Calling All Colors" program that gets kids from St. Joseph and Benton Harbor together at a young age to learn about both their similarities and differences in an effort to combat racism. Other shows will put a spotlight on the Glassworks program, Native American culture and Harbor country.
The shows will air on Friday nights at 6 p.m. and be repeated on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. for eight weeks.
