Owners of The Stray Dog Bar & Grill are thanking their employees and firefighters for keeping customers safe and putting out the flames last night when a fire ripped through the popular New Buffalo restaurant. On Facebook, they posted that the Stray Dog Gear Shop survived the fire and will reopen. As for the restaurant and bar, that will be awhile. Nobody was hurt in the fire, which broke out around 9 p.m. when the restaurant was packed with about 200 customers. Employees will be meeting on Friday to talk about what they'll do next while they wait for word of what will happen with the Stray Dog. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation. Several fire departments combined to put out the fire. New Buffal Assistant Fire Chief Jack Kennedy says the fire burned through the roof and that helped them to be able to get it out.
