Popular New Buffalo Restaurant Burns

It was a packed house last night at the Stray Dog Bar and Grill in New Buffalo, but everything changed around 9 p.m. when a fire broke out. Initial reports indicate there were no injuries, and at least one report says the roof collapsed about two hours after the fire stared. Smoke and flames were seen coming out of the building when firefighters arrived on the scene. Employees said there was at least a half-hour wait for a table when the fire broke out. It'll be a lot longer now before you're able to get one.

A statement on the restaurants website says:
The owners of The Stray Dog Bar and Grill would like to thank their staff for the great job they did ensuring the safety of both customers and employees. We are relieved that there was no injury to anyone, only damage to the building itself. Everyone's thoughts and prayers are deeply appreciated. It's just the shell that's gone, not the spirit of The Stray Dog. The Gear Shop survived, and we plan to open it again as quickly as possible. We'll be seeing you soon!
