The American Heart Association will be providing South Haven's North Shore Elementary School with a new Teaching Garden, designed to help kids learn about proper nutrition. The project is the result of a grant from the Albemarle Foundation, and planting at this fully functional garden should begin in the next school year. The Heart Association's Cindy Bouma tells us that kids across the country lack a proper understanding of cardiovascular health, and eating well is one way to get them on the right path:
The Teaching Garden coming to North Shore Elementary is one of just six in the country. Bouma says that the school will integrate it into the normal curriculum.
