New Report Rips Palisades

A new third party investigation into what's going on at the Palisades nuclear plant is likely to open a lot of eyes. Conger & Elsea Incorporated studied the troubled facility in January and February this year, and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission released its report on Monday. While the report found the plant is operating safely by industry standards, there are big problems between employees and management, and even among the management hierarchy itself when it comes to trust and decision making. The report says there are quote, "examples of a lack of accountability at all levels of the plant," and adds many people in management and supervision "do not consistently exhibit desired behaviors and are not challenged by their managers of peers." Investigators went on to say one factor in the accountability issue is "that there are too many expectations and standards identified" without anyone making it clear what's really important. Palisades is ranked among the four worst nuclear plants in the country by the NRC.
