Benton Township Police are looking for a man accused of holding up the Payless Shoes Store in the Orchards Mall and the Rite-Aid at the corner of M-139 and Napier. The robberies happened Wednesday evening, with the first at Payless around 7 pm. The suspect, described as a black male between 17 and 19 years old, took a pair of shoes to the register and then pulled out a handgun. He fled with all the cash that was in the register and then hit the Rite Aid down the road about an hour and a half later. Michigan State Police and Benton Township officers were unable to track the suspect, who is believed to have been on foot for both heists. Rite-Aid is offering a five-thousand dollar reward for information that leads to an arrest. Police say the suspect wore a dark T-shirt, dark pants, has a reddish-blond streak of hair in the front of a medium-length afro.
