Confusion Reigns Over Land For Dialysis Center In Benton Harbor

Benton Harbor emergency manager Joe Harris says he's looking for answers concerning the land being used to build a dialysis center. It turns out that land was never supposed to be developed, but Harris tells WSJM the city never received documentation from the state or federal government years ago to set it aside. The Department of Natural Resources' Steve DeBrabander has doubts.

Listen:

DeBrabander says they have been working with city leaders to identify a new piece of land that can be put into mitigation and used as open space and a park. He says they will not try to stop the development of the dialysis center currently under construction on Eighth Street. Harris tells WSJM he's not looking to assign blame, but does want to know exactly what happened to cause the current situation.
