South Haven Police Chief Urges Safety On Lake Michigan



While Lake Michigan is a beautiful attraction for us in West Michigan, the lake can also be very dangerous. Evidence of that came over the weekend when two people had to be rescued near the pier in South Haven due to rip currents. South Haven Police Chief Tom Martin says everyone at the beach needs to be careful.

Martin advises if you're taking your kids to the beach, make sure they are wearing a life jacket, even if they can swim. He says the currents can sometimes be unpredictable and even experienced swimmers can struggle with rip currents.
