Former St Joseph Mayor Frank Smith Dies At 92

Former St. Joseph Mayor Frank Smith has died at the age of 92. He was the longest-serving mayor in the city's history, holding the office from 1972 to 1990 and was the third-longest serving city commissioner having served from 1967 to 1991. City Manager Frank Walsh says while he came to town after Smith was out of office, his influence was still felt.

Listen:

City Commissioner Mary Goff tells WSJM that Smith was a great role model, a true patriot and adds he continued to respectfully offer his opinions to her and other commissioners after he left office. Smith was born in 1919, served in World War Two and played college football for Indiana University. He passed away on the Fourth of July, and funeral arrangements are pending.
