The new state law banning synthetic marijuana -- also known as K2, Spice, or Bath Salts -- took effect this week, and legislators say it's about time. The drugs can be found in many stores, leading some local governments in Michigan to move on their own to implement bans. State Representative Peter Pattalia, of Presque Isle, says that the new law will save lives:
He says that anyone who still sees bath salts in a store should tell its owners that they won't be shopping there anymore, and also to notify authorities. Bath salts can also be sold as "potpourri":
Congressman Fred Upton has told us that he thinks the state government made the right move by banning bath salts, as it's unlikely the federal government could pull anything like that off anytime soon.
