Michigan Farmers To Get Extra Federal Help



Fruit growers devastated by extreme winter and spring weather are now eligible for low cost loans and other assistance. That's because the US Department of Agriculture has declared disasters in 72 Michigan counties. Congressman Fred Upton says that the support will offer the fruit growers some help after they lost much of their crop this year to unusual weather patterns. Upton welcomed the disaster declaration from the Ag Department:

He says that almost all of Michigan is covered by the disaster declaration. Now, affected farmers must contact their farm service agencies to begin the process of applying for low interest loans.
