For the first time in 83 years, a US-flagged ship will be docking in Saugatuck this week. On Friday, the Great Lakes luxury cruise ship, the Yorktown, will stop at Saugatuck harbor. Its over 100 passengers will then spend the day touring the community, and there's plenty planned for them, says Felicia Fairchild, with the Saugatuck-Douglas Convention and Visitors Bureau:
The 257 foot ship will arrive at nine AM, and Fairchild says that they'll be streaming the event at Saugatuck.com . The Yorktown will spend the summer taking passengers to interesting locations all over the Great Lakes.
