Organizers of the 2012 Relay for Life in Berrien County admit their fundraising totals are down a bit this year, but they're thankful for what they've raised. Denise Stewart says most of what they pull in stays in the community to fund programs to benefit cancer victims and their families.
Stewart says they had a goal of 350-thousand dollars for this year, and while they fell short, people can still donate through mid-August and it will count toward that number. Last year, they raised around 360-thousand dollars but lost a few teams that had taken part in the Berrien County Relay for Life in 2011. Those teams are believed to have partnered up with other Relay events.
